Ornithology

The wetlands area, Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, has been listed as part of the Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance. 329 species of birds have been spotted here, of which 82 nest regularly in the area.

The extensive network of hides makes it easy to watch birds, as well as other pastimes such as photography and  digiscoping.

Without travelling very far you can visit two other natural parks where you can spot other species of birds.

At Cap de Creus you can observe seabirds and others that nest in the cliffs,

and the Serra de l’Albera (rising to a maximum of 1,257 metres ) is a good place to watch highland species.
