The Cap de Creus nature park is the first park on land and sea in the country. It was created by a 1998 law protecting the peninsula of Cap de Creus and the sea around it.
The park covers a total of 13,886 hectares, of which 10,813 are on land and 3,073 are at sea. The part on land includes 3 natural areas of national interest: Cap Gros-Cap de Creus in the north, Punta Falconera-Norfeu in the south and Serra de Rodes in the west. The protected area also includes all the islands and islets in the natural environment around the park.
